Shinsei Galverse was a retro nostalgic masterpiece! And it's free to watch on YouTube which is wild. It's short, but for an OVA, it did an amazing job at introducing the world and characters in a pretty short time frame and the end scene left me wanting to see more. The voice acting cast is incredible and they brought their A-game. In particular, I love D.D.'s journey and how she evolves and changes over the course of the episode. I would love to see an English dub and of course more episodes too. Zero's character is fun - jumping between serious, funny, and pretty misty eyed at times. If you speak Japanese, there's a tonne of gyaru language and slang references which are cool. I also liked the classic yellow subtitles on YouTube. The last minute is probably the most intriguing, hinting at the wider world of the Galverse galaxy and what other stories we might have to look forward to. The art style is so distinctly 90s and I feel there's not much else out there which scratches the retro - nostalgic anime itch. I love the bold lines, vibrant colors, and the gyaru inspiration for the character designs and outfits. Even if you don't know about gyaru culture I think it's a hit... there's a fun mix here between shoujo and shonen styles. Fingers crossed for more episodes.

Shinsei Galverse is one of those things that takes me right back to that time in my childhood when I’d rush to finish my homework so I can turn on my daily afternoon anime. There’s a rare kind of magic in something that feels both brand-new and deeply familiar. Galverse captured that feeling and held onto it with -glittering- gyaru nails. Upon learning about Galverse, I was immediately captivated by the artwork as it reminded me of those simpler times. It’s definitely nostalgic, but also fresh and edgy at the same time. I’ve never seen such a badass yet fashionable group of gals! In just 22 minutes, the OVA is jam-packed with action, character development, and a cliffhanger at the end. It does a great job of introducing the world of Galverse and while it does feel rushed (which can be attributed to limited budget), we have a solid understanding of the premise and what we can look forward to. The pacing may be quick, but every second counts. From explosive action to quiet character moments, the OVA balances energy with emotion. I found myself smiling and chuckling at little moments, pausing to admire the art, perking up at the soundtrack, and even got misty-eyed at *that one* scene. I am genuinely hyped seeing the after-credits scene and can only imagine all the stories yet to unfold. Additionally, the OVA is filled with legendary voice actors and background artists so it’s easy to admire this as a true piece of art. The color palette, the textures, the framing—it’s obvious that every frame was crafted with love. It’s one of those things that you can’t help but watch numerous times to properly admire. Ayaka Ohira and the Galverse team have truly broken barriers here. Not only do we see an anime created and led by a female artist-director with a unique (gyaru) perspective, but watching the behind-the-scenes content also reveals the team’s passion, and that alone is intriguing enough. Whether you’re a longtime anime fan or just looking for something bold and unique, this one’s worth your time. I’ve always loved anime but I never really knew how much work went into making one until i discovered this independent project making an anime, their way. I am blown away by Galverse’s ability to deliver! The core team and community that helped bring this project to life are friendly, respectful and always down to chat. Come join the discord and you’ll see. The art style and characters are what kept me hooked — I adore the textured style reminiscent of sailor moon, Akira, Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell. I can’t believe this was produced independently. The use of emerging tech blended with traditional animation methods by this team is unparalleled. You cannot fault them. So join the galverse community, bring your constructive criticism and help shape the next chapter! "We're the Galverse." This is my favorite scene. The screen is filled with cute, highly fashionable, and unique gals. While only a few characters have speaking lines, many other charming gals appear one after another, giving a sense of the expanding world. Just watching them is enough to make your heart race with excitement. This work packs all the appeal of Galverse into a single episode. The pacing is smooth, and despite the short runtime, the story is dense and thoroughly enjoyable. With the setting that each Galverse has her own “mission,” it makes you even more eager to see how future stories will unfold. What’s also worth mentioning is the incredibly luxurious voice cast. From the main characters Zero and D.D. to other roles, hugely popular voice actors bring even short lines to life and harmonize perfectly with the animation. You can really feel the high quality of the visuals and direction. The music is wonderful too! With Taku Takahashi of m-flo as the music producer, the theme song is full of gal-mind energy and is a must-listen. Though it plays subtly within the show, it’s a catchy and addictive tune you’ll want to hear more of. And above all, this story has only just begun. In the future, Galverse has plans for a sequel, which we are very much looking forward to. With such a richly unique cast of characters, 20 minutes simply isn’t enough to convey their full charm. That’s why I strongly, strongly hope for a continuation. Why not take a step into the world of Galverse?

When I first watched Shinsei Galverse, I was completely blown away by the unique art style and the impressive quality of the very first episode. From the moment the show began, it was clear that an incredible amount of hard work and passion went into its creation. You can genuinely feel the love and dedication from the small but mighty team that brought this project to life. One of the things I really enjoyed was getting to know the characters and hearing their amazing voices for the first time. The voice acting is fantastic and really helps bring each character to life with distinct personality and emotion. It felt refreshing to meet such a diverse and interesting cast, each with their own quirks and charm. Some of the characters that stood out to me the most were ZERO, who is the main character and a compelling female lead, along with D.D. and RanRan. ZERO’s character is captivating, and she instantly drew me into the story with her intriguing presence. D.D. and RanRan also made strong impressions, bringing unique energy and depth to the group. But honestly, there are many shining stars among the cast, and I’m excited to see how they all develop in future episodes. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to extend the episode length closer to 30 minutes. While the pacing in the first episode was solid, having a bit more time would allow the show to explore the characters more deeply and give viewers more moments to connect with them on a personal level. Longer episodes would help the storytelling breathe and enrich the overall experience. The music in Shinsei Galverse was another highlight for me. It was quite excellent and thoughtfully distributed throughout the episode, perfectly complementing the mood of each scene. The soundtrack enhanced both the emotional and action moments, helping to pull the viewer in and maintain an engaging rhythm. Overall, I thought the episode was excellent, especially considering it was produced by a relatively small team with limited resources. It’s amazing to think that something of this quality is available for free on YouTube, making it accessible to fans all over the world. I had a great time watching, and I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing the upcoming episodes and how this fascinating universe will expand.
